The BSO is a highly regarded orchestra and is all about educating its audience with the music they play. They do this by playing culturally diverse music and explaining its history.  However, the BSO needs to maintain and grow a younger audience. In response, I have created a modern, lively, and classy brand. Using a soft color scheme complements a brand with a high-quality, modern design.

      Honoring the past.
      Looking towards
      the future.

Minimalism is the perfect design option for this brand. It appeals to an audience of all ages, and keeps the high-quality feel to the organization. Their new logo consist of music notes making up each letter. The fermata within the B, the segna creates the S, and the O represents a whole note. This allows the logo to be easily identifiable no matter what it's used for, and it remains all inclusive with the entire orchestra instead of including only certain instruments.

      Using creativity
      to unify the brand

The colors chosen for their new brand come from Joseph Myer Hall, the venue where the BSO performs. The orange and cream originate from the actual auditorium, while the blue was readjusted from their previous brand to keep brand familiarity.

Another visual element within the brand is the use of the musical staff, made up of five lines going horizontal. This adds more visual interest while also creating a visual hierarchy. All of this is explained in the Brand Book Guidelines and can be seen on the website.
